Idaho State Volleyball rematched a familiar foe in the first round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament, with the #2 seed Bengals taking on the #7 Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.
Â
NAU was responsible for one of ISU's conference losses just eleven days prior, spoiling the Bengals' senior day, but that would not be the case this time, as the Bengals sent the 'Jacks packing with a 3-1 win to kick off the tournament.
Â
The offensive effort was led for the Bengals with seniors
Jamie Streit (15) and
Sadie Bluth (14) leading the game in kills.
Aliyah Sopo'aga dished up the Bengal attack with 44 assists. Defensively, one of the top blocking teams in the nation put on a show against NAU.
Meline Robarge sent eight Jack attacks back in four sets to go along with
Marci Bell blocking five and
Jaydin Watts blocking four.
Â
With the win, ISU advanced to the second round of the conference tournament and will face Sacramento State in a Thanksgiving primetime matchup at 8:00 PM MT. The winner of this semifinal scuffle will advance to the conference championship on Friday, Nov. 29
