Bengals Take Down Wildcats 72-57 in Ogden, Sweep Season Series

OGDEN, Utah – The Idaho State Bengals walked into Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah and came away -with a dominant 72-57 win over the Weber State Wildcats to sweep the series 2-0.

The Bengals move to 11-15 on the season and 7-8 in Big Sky Conference play.

Head Coach Seton Sobolewski spoke on the Bengals' win after the game Saturday afternoon.

 

How it Happened

The Idaho State Bengals rode strong first and third quarters as the took down the Weber State Wildcats on Saturday in Ogden.

After trading leads twice to start the game, the Bengals took control on a three pointer by Halle Wright and didn't look back.

Wright led the Bengals offensively with a 20 point, game shooting six-of-nine from the field with two three-pointers and six-of-eight from the free throw line.

Laura Bello followed with a 12 point 10 rebound double-double performance, her 2nd of the season.

The Bengals controlled the glass, outrebounding the Wildcats 46-33, a +13 margin, the Bengals also scored 11 second chance points to WSU's 4

The turnover margin was even at 13 a piece and the Bengals drew 20 fouls to Weber's 17.

Four Bengals scored in double digits as the team shot 37.7 percent from the field for the game and 42.9 percent from three-point range. The Bengals were sent to the charity stripe 22 time and the team took advantage hitting 20 of 22, a 90.9 percentage.

 

Notes

·        The win completes the Bengals' 2-0 season sweep of the Wildcats, the win was just Idaho State's 2nd road win of the season.

·        With the Idaho State men's basketball team sweep of the wildcats, it marks the first time since 1991 where the Bengal men and women completed a 4-0 season against the Wildcats

·        Halle Wright's 20 point performance was her 2nd 20 point game of the season and the 5th 20+ point game for a Bengal in 2024.

·        Laura Bello's three blocks were a season-high in a single game for a Bengal.
