POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State soccer team had their home-opener for the 2024 season on Wednesday evening, hosting the Oregon State Beavers for the teams' second-ever matchup.
As the match unfolded the Bengals would control the possession for the majority of the first and second half, leading to a season-high 18 shot attempts. The Bengals and Beavers would each end the first half with 3 shots on goal, and still knotted at 0.
In the second half the Bengals would continue to move the pace and put shots up, but unable to find the back of the net. As the final minutes drew near, Oregon State would get a ball over the out-stretched arms of
Trinity Hale for an 85
th minute goal to give them a 1-0 advantage with less than 5 minutes remaining. The Bengals would be unable to pull out any tricks in the final minutes to equalize, as they would fall to Oregon State 1-0.
Following the loss, the Bengals will drop to 1-2-1 overall. The Beavers will earn their first win of the season, improving to 1-1-0 on the year.
