Grand Forks, North Dakota – The Bengals played their fifth game of the 2024 season and the first of the weekend matched up against the UND Fighting Hawks.
The Bengals opened the game looking strong with 16 shots in the first half, 7 of which were on goal. Not only was Idaho State strong offensively, but they also dominated time of possession and on defense in general. The Fighting Hawks struggled on offense, shooting only 4 shots total with only 1 on target. After 45 minutes of play the score remained 0-0.
The second half was a different story for the Fighting Hawks. UND started off hot with a goal scored by Charlie Basinet in the 3
rd minute of the period. They stepped it up defensively as well cutting the Bengals shot total in half (8). ISU rattled off 3 quick shots (none on goal) before ultimately allowing another opposing goal. Despite the score, ISU still outshot UND 8-6 in the second half, with their single shot on target being a burner from deep by
Paige Harris (82:22).
Despite a valiant effort from the Bengals and a last-minute opportunity for an equalizer, ISU ultimately fell to the University of North Dakota 1-2, improving the Fighting Hawks record to 3-2-2 (3-0 at home) and dropping the Bengals to a record of 1-3-1 (1-2-1 on the road).
