OGDEN, Utah – The Idaho State men's tennis team hosted the Montana State University Bobcats on Friday for a non-conference match, followed by traveling down to Ogden, UT on Sunday where they took on the Weber State Wildcats for their Big Sky Conference opener.
In doubles against Montana State, the Bengals would fall behind early, and would be unable to catch up, falling in the #1 & #3 doubles matches and losing the doubles point.

Idaho State knew after dropping the doubles point, that if the comeback was possible, they would need to win it in singles play. It would be a thrilling match until the very end, with
Jowan Rawson making light work of his Bobcat opponent, but
Valentino De Pellegrin,
Sam Wensley, and
Luka Vujacic all winning in 3 sets to give the Bengals a walkoff 4-3 victory.

The Bengals would look to keep their momentum rolling through the weekend as they had a tall task with Weber State on Sunday.
In doubles play at Weber State,
Jowan Rawson and
Quentin Lamothe would show out with a 6-4 win in the #2 doubles match, however, the remaining Bengals in the #1 and ## doubles matches would both fall, giving the Wildcats the ever important doubles point.

It would come down to the final singles matches, just like it would vs. Montana State, however, the Bengals would come up just short, winning three singles matches, when they needed four or more.

The Bengals would fall to the Wildcats by a final score of 3-4. Following the 1-1 week of play ISU will move to 5-6 overall on the season and begin Big Sky play 0-1.
"We competed well, but Weber State was too good today", said Bengals' Head Coach, Oliver Good. "We are going to rest up and get ready for a good test against Sacramento State next weekend."
