POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State Football wrapped up the 2025 spring season with its annual spring game Saturday afternoon in Pocatello at the ICCU Dome. Attendance from the Bengal faithful was bolstered by Bengal Visit Day and a good crowd was on hand to watch the Bengals compete.
Watch as offensive and defensive student-athletes spoke to the media following Saturday's event. Cody Hawkins then sat down and discussed the Bengals' performance.
The game was set up as 'offense' versus 'defense' rather than two separate Orange and Black teams. Over two hours, the Bengals competed against each other in live ball series and scripted situations including starting on the one-yard line and sub-one minute drives to score with no timeouts.
The quarterback battle was fierce all day, Idaho State had four quarterbacks leading the offense throughout the day; Jordan Cooke, Davis Harsin, Jackson Sharman, and Logan Gonzalez.
All four quarterbacks put up numbers in the scrimmage. Cooke started going 7-of-14 with 3 TDs and 1 Int.
Sharman threw 17-24 with 2 TDs and six plays longer than 15 yards.
Harsin threw 6-of-9 in the game with a touchdown
Gonzalez finished going 14-of-24 with 3 TDs and an Interception.
Cooke and newcomer Jonah Burton put on a show to start, Cooke completed a 39-yarder and a 30-yard touchdown pass to Burton.
Cooke followed it up with the longest touchdown pass of the day. Throwing from the 12-yard line, Burton separated himself from the defensive backs and Cooke connected with the transfer receiver on the run, speeding away for an 88-yard touchdown reception.
The Bengal defense didn't make it easy on Saturday. In the first half, the Bengal defense had three interceptions off of three Bengal quarterbacks.
Junior Damuni grabbed one off of Cooke. Dekker Hagler picked apart the offense and snatched an interception. Bengal newcomer Jackson Irwin forced a fumble off of Harsin that Joe Perez dove on and recovered.
Pocatello native Devin Rodriguez snatched the ball out of the air after a booming hit by Bronson Childs on Brett Spencer put the ball in the air.
One of the highlights of the 2nd half came during a drive with Sharman at the helm. After a 75 yard TD bomb to Tsion Nunnally was called back for holding, two plays later, Sharman did it again, connecting this time with Aiden Garcia for the deep touchdown.
During a Gonzalez drive, after completing three consecutive passes and driving the field, Adonijah Richards cut the deep route and picked off Gonzalez, the interception was Richards' first of spring camp 2025.
Gonzalez showed his mettle in the next drive, rushing into the endzone, despite the booming hit that the Bengal defense put on him as he crossed the goal line.
The Bengals now turn their efforts to summer development where they will work on conditioning, continuing to grow stronger in the weight room and position group development.
