The 2025 Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championships opened with a strong start for Idaho State's multi-event athletes at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento. Day 1 of the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon featured a mix of grit, precision, and early podium potential as the Bengals positioned themselves firmly in contention heading into Day 2.

Men's Decathlon – Stoelken and Jones in Podium Hunt
Two Bengals sit inside the top four after five events in the decathlon:
Tom Stoelken – 3554 points (3rd place overall)
Stoelken, who claimed bronze in the heptathlon at this year's indoor championships, impressed on Day 1 with a
first-place finish in the shot put, launching a
PR of 13.81m. He also cleared a
personal best of 1.75m in the high jump to round out his day.

Adam Jones – 3449 points (4th place overall)
Jones recorded
two personal bests on Day 1, soaring to
1.90m in the high jump (2nd place) and jumping
6.55m in the long jump (4th place). He also ran a solid 400m in 52.38 for another top-5 event finish.

Both athletes will look to climb the leaderboard tomorrow as the decathlon wraps up with the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1500m starting at 11:00 AM.

Women's Heptathlon – Dimick with Strong Lead
Kylee Dimick – 3323 points (1st place overall)
Dimick leads the heptathlon after four events, setting a
personal best in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.24. She followed up by winning both the
high jump (1.76m) and
shot put (11.50m) to take a commanding lead. Dimick, the indoor pentathlon silver medalist, also clocked a 25.72 in the 200m to finish her day.

Dimick will aim to hold her top spot as the heptathlon concludes tomorrow with the long jump, javelin, and 800m.

The multi-event athletes return to action at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 15, to finish the decathlon and heptathlon. Idaho State will look to lock in valuable team points early as the full championship schedule picks up speed later this week.
