Bengals Set for Semifinal Showdown with the Weber State Wildcats

POCATELLO, Idaho - The semifinal game of the 2025 Big Sky Softball Tournament is set and the Idaho State Bengals are ready to take on rival Weber State in the showdown. First pitch is schedule for 5:30 PM, but will be dependant on the timing of the remaining two games before the Bengals take the field, regardless, Idaho State will play 30 mins after the conclusion of game three in Greeley. The Game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats are avaialble on the ISU softballs schedule page.

The Bengals got to the semifinals behind a 10-2 mercy rule victory over #4 Northern Colorado and Weber State took down the #2 seed Sacramento State with a 7th inning comeback to earn the spot against the Bengals.

The Idaho State Bengals enter today's Big Sky Conference semifinal against Weber State riding a wave of momentum after sweeping the Wildcats in their regular season series. Idaho State outscored ing Weber State 14-8 and showcasing their depth on both sides of the ball.

Series Recap

  • Game 1 (April 11): Idaho State opened the series with a hard-fought 4-2 win, powered by strong pitching from Lizzy Tommasini, who threw a complete game, scattering eight hits and allowing just two runs while striking out four.

  • Game 2 (April 11): In the nightcap, Kasey Aguinaga took the circle and delivered a gem, surrendering just one unearned run across seven innings in a 2-1 nailbiter. Jenna Kearns was the hero for the Bengals in game two, with the game winning home run for the Orange and Black.

  • Game 3 (April 12): The Bengals' bats came alive in the finale, erupting for an 8-5 victory behind a balanced attack that included nine hits, with home runs from both Alyssa Yee and Jenna Kearns. Aguinaga again picked up the win in relief, improving her season record to 13-5.

  • Offense: Idaho State hit .259 as a team over the series, with Gracie Smith (.364), Alyssa Yee (.364), and Jenna Kearns (.333) leading the charge.

  • Power: The Bengals slugged two home runs (Yee, Kearns) and collected four doubles, applying consistent pressure on the Wildcats' pitching staff.

  • Pitching: The staff combined for a stellar 2.00 ERA over 21 innings, with Aguinaga (2-0, 0.70 ERA) and Tommasini (1-0, 2.10 ERA) handling the bulk of the work.
