POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State women's basketball fell to the Idaho Vandals Thursday night with an 81–68 loss to Idaho at ICCU Arena in Moscow. The Bengals move to 10-6, 3-2 on the year with one more game at Eastern Washington on the roadtrip schedule.
"Tough game tonight," remarked Head Coach Seton Sobolewski. "Idaho came out firing and I though we played hard at times, but we were not able to overcome Idaho's halftime lead."
Idaho opened the game with a 21–14 first-quarter lead and carried a 37–28 advantage into halftime. The Bengals worked to stay within reach early, but Idaho's efficiency and rebounding on the offensive end allowed the home team to maintain separation through the first 20 minutes.
The Vandals extended the margin in the third quarter, outscoring Idaho State 18–15 and pushing the lead to its largest point of the night at 19 with 1:27 remaining in the period. Idaho entered the fourth quarter ahead 55–43 and held the lead for 39:10 overall, as Idaho State was unable to generate a lead change.
Idaho State produced its best offensive stretch in the fourth quarter, scoring 25 points and putting together an 11–0 run at the 8:27 mark to trim the deficit. The Bengals shot 50.0 percent from the field in the final period, but Idaho matched the effort with 26 points of its own to close out the game.
Tasia Jordan led all scorers with 23 points on 10-for-17 shooting, adding six rebounds and five assists. Alyse Aby followed with 15 points, while Piper Carlson added six points and Kacey Spink finished with four points and seven rebounds. Idaho State shot 92.9 percent from the free-throw line, going 13-for-14.
Idaho finished the night shooting 42.2 percent from the field and knocked down nine three-pointers. The Vandals were paced by a 30–17 advantage in bench scoring and held the lead wire to wire.
