Bengals Open 2026 Season at Boise State

BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team opened the 2026 spring season Sunday morning on the road at Boise State University, sweeping the doubles point and competing in several tightly contested singles matches in the season opener.

Head Coach Gretchen Maloney was encouraged by the team's performance in their first action of the year.

"Very happy with how the girls performed in our opening match," Maloney said. "We had so many opportunities. They played incredible doubles and in our singles we just needed to play a little cleaner on the big points. Overall it was exciting to see the potential we have with this group of ladies."

DOUBLES

Idaho State set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles matches to secure the opening point of the dual.

SINGLES

Boise State responded in singles play, with multiple matches extending deep into deciding sets.

  • Millie Day dropped a three-set battle to Polakova, 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4.

  • Stefanya Shalakhova fell to Isaacs, 7-5, 6-2.

  • Asem Shoybek was edged by Viriant, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3

  • Emmy Richards earned Idaho State's lone singles victory, defeating Schaefer 6-3, 6-4. With the win, Richards remains undefeated in both singles and doubles play following her first career collegiate match.

  • Sydney Morris pushed Grignac to three sets before falling 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.

  • Veronika Zarovna was defeated by Beldiman, 6-2, 6-4.

MATCH NOTES

  • Idaho State swept all three doubles matches to claim the first point of the 2026 season.

  • Richards finished her collegiate debut undefeated in both singles and doubles.

  • Three of the six singles matches were decided in three sets.
