Men's Tennis Falls at Utah in 2026 Season Opener

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Idaho State men's tennis team opened the 2026 spring season with a 1–6 loss at the University of Utah on Thursday afternoon at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center. All three doubles matches would go into tiebreaks, while ISU would claim victory from Lewie Bouman in the No. 3 singles match for their lone point on the day, while also forcing three of the five remaining singles matches to three sets. 

Doubles

Utah claimed the opening doubles point with wins on courts one and three.

  • No. 1 Doubles: Lewie Bouman / Sep de Visser fell in a tight tiebreak to Balthazar Huss and Dante Teramo, 6–7 (3–7).

  • No. 2 Doubles: Jack Calleri / Hayden Ciguenza were tied with Emmett Potter and AJ Deem in a tiebreaker before the match was left unfinished, 6–6 (3–2).

  • No. 3 Doubles: Tyler Dalos / Quentin Lamothe pushed the match to a tiebreak but came up short against Lorenzo Esquici and Simeon Terziev, 6–7 (5–7).

Singles

The Utes extended their lead with wins on five singles courts before Idaho State earned its lone point in comeback fashion.

  • No. 1 Singles: Sep de Visser fell to Dante Teramo, 4–6, 1–6.

  • No. 2 Singles: Hayden Ciguenza dropped a decision to Emmett Potter, 6–7 (2–7), 2–6.

  • No. 3 Singles: Lewie Bouman earned the Bengals' lone point, rallying past Lorenzo Esquici, 0–6, 7–6 (7–4), 3–0.

  • No. 4 Singles: Tyler Dalos pushed his match to three sets but fell to Simeon Terziev, 3–6, 7–6 (7–4), 3–6.

  • No. 5 Singles: Jack Calleri battled through three sets before falling to Balthazar Huss, 2–6, 6–4, 3–6.

  • No. 6 Singles: Quentin Lamothe was defeated by AJ Deem, 1–6, 3–6.
