Bengal Football Announces Additional Signings to 2026 Class

POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State Football announced a sizable and experienced Signing Day class, adding proven production at key positions as the Bengals continue to build toward sustained success in the Big Sky Conference.


Wide Receivers and Offensive Skill Playmakers

Amare Ary
WR
San Diego, Calif. | West Virginia State
West Virginia State (2025): Appeared in 11 games during the 2025 season...Recorded 54 receptions for 995 yards and eight touchdowns...Averaged 90.5 receiving yards per game and 18.4 yards per catch...Added four kick returns for 76 yards...Turned in a season-best performance against Fairmont State on 09/27/25, catching three passes for a career-high 189 yards and two touchdowns...Posted nine receptions for 173 yards and two touchdowns at West Liberty on 10/04/25...Recorded a career-long 75-yard reception against Fairmont State on 09/27/25...Finished the season earning First Team All-MEC honors...Earned Division II All-American and HBCU All-American recognition following the season...Ended his West Virginia State career with 98 receptions for 1,593 yards and 14 receiving touchdowns across 24 games.
Ary is majoring in University Studies at Idaho State and was coached by Michael Mayo at Laurel High School, where he played quarterback, running back, and safety. He earned Division II All-American and HBCU All-American recognition during his collegiate career and was named First Team All-MEC. Trilla is majoring in Kinesiology at Idaho State and was coached by Kenchee Ross at W.T. White High School in Dallas, Texas, where he played wide receiver. He earned Iowa Western Honor Roll recognition and was part of a national championship team at the junior college level. Trilla said he chose Idaho State for the strong sense of community and family within the program and added that he joined ISU with the goal of winning. Flores, who goes by Ant, attended Casa Grande Union High School in Arizona, where he played wide receiver and was part of a perfect 14–0 season while totaling 33 receptions for 586 yards and eight touchdowns as a senior. He finished his collegiate career at Western New Mexico with 134 receptions for 1,669 yards and 12 touchdowns and earned two Lone Star Conference Honorable Mention selections. Flores played club football with AZ Krush and chose Idaho State for the opportunity to continue his development at the Division I level. Oaxaca, who goes by Yamo, is majoring in Business Administration at Idaho State and attended Montwood High School in El Paso, Texas, where he played wide receiver and safety under head coach Ariel Famaligi. He earned Dean's List and Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition and was a two-time all-conference selection at Sul Ross State. Oaxaca also competed with Ace Athletix and said he chose Idaho State for the coaching staff and the city of Pocatello. James chose to return to Idaho State for the people, culture, and opportunity to continue building with the program. He originally signed with BYU in February 2022 and was a multi-sport athlete in high school, contributing on both the offensive and defensive lines. Esplin said he appreciates the Idaho State community and fan support. His favorite NFL players are Tyron Smith and Joe Thomas, and he follows the Washington Commanders. Athletic ability runs in his family, as his mother played volleyball at Utah State, his father played basketball at Northwestern, and his younger brother plays hockey for the Spud Kings.

He also spent two seasons at Trinity High School in Texas, where he was a two-time Texas 6A first team all-district selection and earned Texas 6A-Division I all-state honorable mention honors. Karby was named a 2025 JUCO All-American, earned 2025 All-State honors, was a 2025 Unanimous First Team All-Conference selection, and was recognized as the 2024 Offensive Lineman of the Year. He said he chose Idaho State for the coaching staff, the culture, and the program's desire to win. Tuala is majoring in University Studies at Idaho State and attended Parramatta Marist High School in Sydney, Australia. He is coached by the defensive line staff at Idaho State and comes to Pocatello from BYU. Before BYU, Tuala played 9 games for Citrus College, totaling 13 tackles, three sacks and four tackles for loss.

Dougal is majoring in Biology at Idaho State and attended Thunder Ridge High School in Ammon, Idaho, where he was coached by Michael Berger and played defensive end and tight end. Dougal said he chose Idaho State for the environment, the coaching staff, and the opportunity to stay close to home. Patterson, who goes by Jax, is majoring in University Studies at Idaho State and attended Hillsboro High School in Missouri, where he was a four-year starter and amassed more than 5,100 career rushing yards. He earned all-state honors as a senior after averaging 8.3 yards per carry and scoring 16 touchdowns while helping Hillsboro to a 10–2 record, and collected all-district and all-conference recognition in all four seasons. Patterson also lettered in baseball and earned academic all-state honors. He said he chose Idaho State because of the coaching staff's knowledge, competitive mindset, and the program's culture. Parks-Vinson is majoring in University Studies at Idaho State and attended Nolan Catholic High School in Fort Worth, Texas, where he was coached by David Beaudin and played wide receiver. He signed with Weber State in December 2021 and transitioned from wide receiver to cornerback prior to the 2023 season. Parks-Vinson earned Dean's List recognition and cited Coach Duff and the program's emphasis on nutrition as key factors in choosing Idaho State. Saxton is majoring in Psychology at Idaho State and attended Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah, where he was a two-time Utah Class 4A First Team All-State selection and helped lead the Bobcats to back-to-back state championships. He earned first team all-region honors as a sophomore, junior, and senior and recorded 56 tackles and three interceptions during a perfect 13–0 senior season, followed by 35 tackles and two interceptions as a junior on a 13–1 team. Saxton also lettered in basketball and track, earning all-region honors in basketball, and was a member of the Honor Roll. He chose Idaho State for the people and culture built within the program. Johnson, who goes by KJ, is majoring in Business at Idaho State and attended St. Genevieve High School in California, where he was coached by Jamere Austin. He transitioned to cornerback for the first time during his junior college career and highlighted his defensive production with four interceptions in his first season at the position. Johnson competed with Premium and said he chose Idaho State because he trusts what the coaching staff is building. Lewis is majoring in Business at Idaho State and attended Liberty High School in Bakersfield, California, where he was coached by Bryan Nixon and played outside linebacker, safety, and wide receiver. He earned President's List academic honors and was named first team all-league during his junior college career, while also receiving third team JUCO All-America recognition. Lewis said he chose Idaho State because of the players and staff. James Madison (2025): Redshirted during the 2025 season to retain a year of eligibility...Enrolled at James Madison University in January 2025 and participated in spring practice with the program.
Callen is majoring in Sport Management and Operations at Idaho State and attended Carrollton High School in Georgia after moving from Idaho for his senior season. A versatile athlete, he earned Georgia 6A Honorable Mention All-Region and All-Conference recognition as a senior and was previously Idaho's top-ranked recruit in the 2025 class before relocating. Callen was a two-time Idaho 5A All-State selection, first team as a junior and second team as a sophomore, and a two-time first team All-Southeast Idaho Conference honoree. He helped Carrollton reach the 2024 GHSA 6A state title game and was part of Highland High School's 2024 Idaho 5A state championship team, as well as the 2021 state runner-up squad. Callen chose Idaho State for the community and coaching staff, enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, listens to "I'm Back" by Raq Baby before games, supports the Las Vegas Raiders, and can be found on Instagram (@kai.callen). He comes from a strong football lineage, with his father Atari Callen having played defensive back at Cal and Idaho State and his stepfather Rudy Griffin having played defensive line at Alabama and now serving as a defensive line coach at UT Martin.

Rucker is majoring in Psychology at Idaho State and attended Homestead High School in Sunnyvale, California, where he was coached by Milo Lewis. He arrives in Pocatello as a transfer from Foothill College, where he earned Special Teams MVP honors and recorded a longest in-game punt of 70 yards. Rucker was a three-time Dean's List honoree at Foothill and said football played a central role in his decision to continue his career at Idaho State. Outside of football, he enjoys bowling, golfing, playing pool, and listening to music, and listens to "Sky's the Limit" by The Notorious B.I.G. before games. Hewitt, who goes by Bill or Billy, is majoring in Political Science at Idaho State and attended Norton Canes High School in England. He earned his associate degree with highest honors, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. Hewitt said he chose Idaho State because of the welcoming coaching staff, facilities, and academic opportunities. Outside of football, he enjoys music, soccer, golf, running, and traveling, listens to punk rock, and supports the Green Bay Packers after becoming a fan during the Aaron Rodgers era. McCreery is majoring in Public Health at Idaho State and attended Liberty Ranch High School in Galt, California, where he was coached by Warren Schroeder and saw action at quarterback, punter, and kicker. He earned all-league honors and also lettered in basketball, helping Liberty Ranch to a state runner-up finish. McCreery holds two associate degrees in general science and pre-health occupations and said he chose Idaho State because of his connection to Idaho and the immediate sense of home created by the coaching staff. Kavanagh, who goes by Jeffrey, is majoring in History at Idaho State and attended Quartz Hill High School in Palmdale, California, where he was coached by Russell Gordon and played safety, punter, and kicker. He said he chose Idaho State because of the coaching staff and the opportunity to compete at the Division I level. Outside of football, he enjoys golfing, listens to 90s alternative rock before games, supports the Los Angeles Rams, and comes from an athletic family, with his mother having played softball at Arizona State University.
