Bengals Fall to Vandals at Home 65-50

POCATELLO, Idaho — Idaho State dropped a 65-50 decision to Idaho on Saturday afternoon at Reed Gym, marking just the fourth Big Sky loss of the season for the Bengals. ISU moved to 17-8 overall and 10-4 in conference play.

Idaho led 18-16 after the first quarter and extended the margin in the second. After Tasia Jordan tied the game at 18-18 at the 9:28 mark, the Vandals used a 9-0 run midway through the period, fueled by defensive stops and transition baskets, to build a 27-18 advantage. Maeva Gauffrenet answered with a three-pointer and layup to trim the deficit to three, but Idaho closed the half on a 6-0 spurt to take a 34-29 lead into the break.

In the third quarter, Idaho created separation. With the game tied 38-38 at 8:07 following a Jordan fast break layup, the Vandals responded with a 15-4 run over the final eight minutes of the period. The surge included multiple second-chance opportunities and free throws, pushing the lead to 53-42 entering the fourth.

The Bengals were unable to close the gap and the team from up north came away with the 65-50 win. 

Jordan led the Bengals with 15 points, while Kacey Spink added 10. Piper Carlson finished with eight points and seven rebounds. ISU shot 32.8 percent from the field and 1-of-9 from three-point range. Idaho outrebounded the Bengals 47-27 and scored 13 second-chance points in the win.
