FARMINGTON, Utah — After leading Idaho State to a pair of 5-2 victories over University of North Dakota and Utah Tech, Millie Day has been named the Big Sky Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played Feb. 10–16, marking the Bengals' first Big Sky Player of the Week award winner since the 2024 season.
Competing in St. George, Utah, Day delivered a flawless weekend performance, finishing 4-0 across singles and doubles play while helping the Bengals secure a perfect 2-0 team record.
Dominant at No. 1 Singles
Anchoring the lineup in the No. 1 singles position, Day went 2-0 against top competition from both opponents.
Against North Dakota, Day controlled the match from the baseline, defeating E. Li in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. She followed that performance with another commanding victory over Utah Tech's M. Zurita Berdecio, earning a 6-2, 6-1 win to remain unbeaten on the weekend.
Her ability to set the tone at the top of the lineup proved critical in both dual victories, giving Idaho State early momentum in singles play.
Clutch in Doubles
Day also partnered with Emmy Richards in the No. 2 doubles slot, where the duo posted a 2-0 record.
The Bengal pair opened with a convincing 6-2 win over North Dakota's Giupponi/Norberg. They then battled through a tightly contested matchup against Utah Tech's Inouye/Tsintsadze, pulling out a 7-6 (7-3) tiebreak victory to secure the doubles point momentum.
Impact on the Lineup
Day's leadership at the top of both the singles and doubles lineup continues to provide stability and competitive edge for Idaho State. Going undefeated in four matches across the weekend, she played a direct role in both team wins and demonstrated consistency under pressure.
Her performance in St. George not only helped propel the Bengals to back-to-back 5-2 victories but also earned conference recognition, underscoring her importance to Idaho State's early-season success.
The Bengals will look to carry that momentum forward as conference play approaches.
