FARMINGTON, Utah – Idaho State men's tennis sophomore Sep de Visser has been named the Big Sky Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week of March 24–30, the conference office announced Wednesday.
de Visser powered the Bengals to a perfect 2-0 weekend and their first two Big Sky Conference wins of the season, as Idaho State defeated both Portland State and Montana State by identical 6-1 scores.
The sophomore turned in a flawless performance across the weekend, finishing 4-0 overall, including a 2-0 mark in No. 2 singles and a 2-0 record in No. 2 doubles alongside teammate Quentin Lamothe.
In singles play, de Visser opened the weekend with a three-set victory over Portland State's M. Schotanus, winning 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. He followed with a strong performance against Montana State's A. Stewart, securing a 7-6 (7-5), 6-1 win to remain unbeaten in singles competition.
In doubles action, de Visser and Lamothe were dominant at the No. 2 position, earning a pair of 6-2 victories. The duo defeated Portland State's Cravanzola/Prino before taking down Montana State's Chantron/Biss to help the Bengals secure the doubles point in both matches.
The award marks the second Big Sky Player of the Week honor for Idaho State this season, both earned by de Visser, and his second time receiving the recognition in the last four weeks.
Idaho State will look to carry its momentum forward as Big Sky play continues next week.
