POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State Men's Basketball continues to build its roster for the 2026-27 season, as Head Coach Ryan Looney announces the addition of three more transfers in Ty Virgil, Eyal Harel, and Jeremiah Dorsey.
Following the 2025-26 campaign, the Bengals continue navigating a significant roster transition, returning under 2 percent of their scoring, rebounding, and assists from last season. With the majority of last year's roster departing through graduation and the transfer portal, Idaho State's coaching staff remains aggressive in rebuilding the program through a combination of portal recruiting, player development, and international evaluation.
The additions of Virgil, Harel, and Dorsey further reinforce the Bengals' emphasis on length, versatility, defensive activity, and experienced backcourt play as Idaho State continues constructing a new foundation for the future.
Jeremiah Dorsey
Point Guard, 5-11
Senior
Queens, New York | Jefferson University
Jeremiah Dorsey transfers to Idaho State following a breakout 2025-26 season at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, where he earned First Team All-CACC honors and established himself as one of the top defensive guards in Division II basketball.
Dorsey started 22 of 23 games for the Rams while averaging 16.6 points, 4.0 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.0 steals per game. He shot 47.4 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from three-point range, and 80.7 percent from the free throw line while totaling 382 points, 91 assists, and 68 steals on the season.
His defensive activity helped him rank fourth nationally in steals per game and 16th nationally in total steals, while also leading the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in both categories. Dorsey scored 20 or more points nine times during the season, recorded 11 games with five or more assists, and posted four or more steals in nine contests.
He registered a season-high 25 points against Wilmington, totaled 11 assists versus Millersville, and recorded a seven-steal performance against Kutztown. During the season, he was named both CACC Player of the Week and CACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Prior to his breakout campaign, Dorsey appeared in 20 games during the 2023-24 season. Off the court, he is a three-time CACC Academic Honor Roll selection at the Commissioner's Level.
Before college, Dorsey was a 1,000-point scorer in high school, earned two All-League selections in NEPSAC AA competition, and was named MVP during his senior season at Wilbraham & Monson Academy.
"Jeremiah has three years of college basketball experience," Looney said. "He has proven his ability to play and experience success at the college level. Jeremiah will impact the game defensively."
Eyal Harel
Guard, 6-7
Sophomore
Hod Hasharon, Israel | Pacific
Eyal Harel transfers into Idaho State after spending the 2025-26 season at Pacific. During his freshman campaign, he appeared in just three games and shot 2-for-2 from the field and 2-for-2 from three-point range, totaling six points.
Prior to arriving at Pacific, Harel gained professional and international experience in Israel. He spent the 2024-25 season competing with Hapoel Afula in the Israeli Winner League after previously playing three seasons with Hapoel Shlomo Tel Aviv from 2022-24, where he also competed in the EuroCup.
At the international level, Harel averaged 9.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game with Maccabi Haifa B.C. during FIBA U20 EuroBasket competition.
His combination of professional experience, perimeter size, and international background adds another versatile piece to Idaho State's evolving roster structure.
"Eyal has great experience at different levels of basketball," Looney said. "He has great size for the guard position. Eyal is a great addition to our roster."
Ty Virgil
Guard, 6-6
Redshirt-Freshman
Sacramento, California | Pepperdine
Ty Virgil comes to Idaho State after spending last season at Pepperdine, where he redshirted during the 2025-26 season. A 6-foot-6 guard from Sacramento, Virgil adds size, athleticism, and scoring upside to the Bengals' perimeter group.
Virgil was recruited out of Hillcrest Prep and also attended Phoenix College Prep. During his senior season, he averaged 22.7 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.2 steals per game while shooting 44.7 percent from three-point range.
His combination of size, shooting ability, and defensive production gives Idaho State another versatile guard as the program continues to rebuild its roster for the 2026-27 season.
"Ty is a very talented player," Looney said. "He is a tough shot maker and has great length for his position. Our coaching staff is looking forward to working with him."
Continuing the Rebuild
With the additions of Virgil, Harel, and Dorsey, Idaho State continues assembling a roster designed to adapt to the modern landscape of college basketball. The Bengals' staff has prioritized players with positional flexibility, defensive versatility, and diverse developmental backgrounds as the program continues its offseason rebuild.
From experienced collegiate guards to international competition and high-upside perimeter talent, the newest additions reflect Idaho State's continued emphasis on building a roster capable of growing together while competing in the Big Sky Conference.
With these three additions, Idaho State now has the D1 max, 15 players, on the roster for their 2026-27 campaign. Joining the returning two, Quin Patterson & Landen Birley, and the Bengals' 10 other new incomers from their Fall and Spring signing classes.
