Women's Tennis Signs Macy Richards for 2026-27 Season

POCATELLO, Idaho - Idaho State Bengals Head Coach Gretchen Maloney announced the signing of Macy Richards on Tuesday afternoon. Richards, a native of Bountiful, Utah, will join her younger sister, Emmy Richards, on the Idaho State Bengals 2026-27 roster as a graduate student, fulfilling a longtime dream of competing alongside family at the collegiate level.

Bengals Head Coach Gretchen Maloney shared her thoughts on bringing Richards to Pocatello, "We are so excited to welcome Macy to our team next year! Her experience and maturity will play such an important role in continuing to build our culture and create a positive team environment... Macy's work ethic and drive are unmatched, and we can't wait to watch her grow and excel both on and off the court. We also absolutely love that sisters will get the opportunity to be teammates — such a special experience for their family and our program!

Richards joins Idaho State after previously competing collegiately at Colorado Mesa University during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. A two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and two-time Academic All-PacWest selection, Richards totaled 57 combined singles and doubles victories during her career with the Mavericks. As a sophomore in 2022-23, she co-led the team with 30 total wins and paced the Mavericks with 16 singles victories while competing throughout the top half of the lineup.

Following her sophomore season at Colorado Mesa, Richards departed the program to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Uruguay from July 2023 through July 2024. After returning home, Richards attended Brigham Young University for the past two years, graduating in the spring of 2026.

Prior to her collegiate career, Richards was a standout at Woods Cross High School, where she won Utah state championships at both No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles. She was named the Utah Tennis Association High School Female Player of the Year in 2020 and was also recognized as the Deseret News Athlete of the Week.

While in Pocatello, Richards will pursue her Masters of Business Administration at Idaho State.

Richards is the fourth member of the Bengals' 2026-27 signing class.
