POCATELLO, Idaho – Idaho State Freshman defensive lineman
Trehsyn Fesili has been named the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Trehsyn Fesili made an immediate impact in his first collegiate game, turning in the most disruptive defensive performance on the field as Idaho State opened the 2026 season with a 38-10 win over Virginia Military Institute.
The true freshman finished with three solo tackles, six total tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble that he also recovered himself.
Fesili's strip of VMI running back Trevin Simon at the VMI 38-yard line in the third quarter set up a one-play, 38-yard touchdown drive that extended ISU's lead to 38-0.
He added a sack for a loss of 7 yards on VMI's opening drive of the third quarter, part of a defensive effort that held the Keydets to just 11 net passing yards on the day.
