COACH BARKER:

Barker spent six years in the US Navy as a yeoman, serving as an executive assistant in both his native San Diego, CA and also in Virginia Beach, VA. Following his exit from the military he pursued his degree from the University of Utah and began working in the equipment room fitting players in helmets, shoulder pads, and cleats according to AEMA and carries high standards while setting up field equipment for football practices.

Upon completing his Bachelor of Science in Communication, he continued to work as an intern in the Utah equipment room utilizing Helmet Tracker software to manage equipment inventory and issuing of football apparel for players and staff. He then moved on to another Pac-12 program, the Arizona State Sun Devils.

Beginning his time in Tempe, Arizona under then head coach Herm Edwards, Barker continued his ascension in the equipment operations realm by becoming Assistant Equipment Manager. He programmed practice scripts and sound cues into the Tempo clock system, implemented accurate inventory control via Front Rush and Equip Check while negotiating purchases via Adidas b2b ordering system. In addition, he supervised 15 student managers, managed all sideline communications, and handled all locker room and sideline setups. Following a coaching change, Arizona State University promoted Ryan Barker to interim Head Equipment Manager prior to the 2023 Sun Devils season.

Ryan Barker arrived in Pocatello, Idaho prior to the start of Idaho State spring ball practices in 2024. At ISU, he will oversee the entire equipment department for all sports. He is married to his wife Kellie and they have two daughters.
