Idaho State secondary coach Stanley Franks enters his third season with the Bengals. In 2014, Franks assisted with a Bengal defense that had 19 interceptions. Vai Peko led the team with four and Erik Collins finished with three. Peko also earned honorable mention all-conference honors.

Prior to his post at Idaho State, Franks served as the defensive back’s coach for the Spokane Shock, joining head coach Andy Olson’s staff in the fall of 2011.

Before getting into the coaching profession, Franks also had an impressive career.

In 2010, he played in the Canadian Football League for the BC Lions. That year he recorded 70 tackles and three interceptions.

He also played for the Spokane Shock in 2009 and played a key role in earning the Shock an Arena Cup Championship. That year, he led the squad in tackles (97.5) and had eight interceptions with 17 pass break-ups.

During college, Franks played for the University of Idaho. In 2006, he led the nation in interceptions per game with an average of 0.75. He had nine interceptions in 12 games earning him First-Team All-WAC recognition.

While in junior college, he earned All-American and All-State recognition with 62 receptions for 778 yards and eight touchdowns.

Franks career came to an end after suffering a leg injury in 2010.
