Cory O'Brien enters his third season on the staff at Idaho State after spending two seasons working in the office in different capacities. Prior to working with the staff O'Brien played for the Bengals for two seasons under his father Joe O'Brien. Cory will be serving his first season as an assistant coach as he had advances from a graduate assistant position for 2008-09 and a student assistant position for 2009-10.

In 2008-09, O'Brien helped out in all facets from on the court coaching to scouting to travel, handling a variety of duties. This year he will officially take over ISU's third assistant coaching slot.

O'Brien came to ISU in 2006 and competed in two seasons for the Bengals, helping ISU to a pair of Big Sky Tournament appearances, including a trip to the semifinals in 2008. O'Brien is married to the former Hannah Luttenegger. He graduated from Idaho State in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in sports management. He is currently working on in master's degree in athletic administration with Idaho State and is expected to be done in the Spring of 2011.
