Drew Jones joined the Bengal track and field staff as Assistant Coach - Throws in the summer of 2021. Before coming to Idaho State, Jones had an illustrious career coaching at the University of North Dakota, Hamline and Concordia Saint Paul.  

North Dakota (2013-2021):
Jones' time at North Dakota saw a continual success with the throwers he coached. In his time there Jones coached;
3 NCAA Division 1 All-Americans
28 West Region Qualifiers 
10 Conference Champions between the Big Sky Conference and the Summit League
42 All-Conference Performers (defined as a top-three finish at the conference championship meet)
2 conference MVP's and 3 Athletes who rank top-10 in Big Sky Conference history. 

Off the field, Jones has encouraged his students to perform academically as well with 17 of his throwers being awarded USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards. 

At UND Jones was coached student-atheltes to nine new school records.

Hamline (2008-2013)
In his five years at Hamline in the MIAC confernce, Jones saw marked success including
1 National Champion in the women's Discus
15 D3 All-Americans
4 Conference Record Holders
4 Conference Field-Athletes of the Year. 
21 Conference Champions

Additional Coaching Experience
After competing in college, Jones spent a year coaching at Concordia Saint Paul and at at the High School level. 

Personal/Education
Jones competed at  Hamline University  in Saint Paul Minnesota from 2003-2008. 
During his time there, Jones was a two-year captain, 10-time all conference performer and two-time all-academic award winner. 

Off the field, Jones spent time not only earning his degree in Psychology but also certifications to improve his ability to coach. 
these certifications include; 
USATF Level 1 and 2 Track Coach
USTFCCCA Throws Specialist Certification
USTFCCCA Strength and Conditioning Specialish Certification
and the USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sports Performance Coach.
