Idaho State Outdoor (2025): In his final outdoor season, Ricardo Ascencio continued to be a reliable contributor in the sprints and relays for the Bengals. At the Utah Spring Classic on April 12, 2025, he competed in the 200m, recording a time of 22.66 seconds to finish 23rd . Earlier in the season, at the Buc Scoring meet on March 20-21, 2025, Ascencio ran the 400m in 50.47 seconds, placing 5th, and was part of the 4x100m relay team that secured 1st place with a time of 42.48 seconds . His performances throughout the season demonstrated his consistency and dedication to the team.

Idaho State Indoor (2024–25): During the indoor season, Ascencio focused on the 400m and relay events. At the Mountain States Games on February 14-15, 2025, he ran the 400m in 51.64 seconds, finishing 9th, and contributed to the 4x400m relay team that placed 6th with a time of 3:29.41 . His efforts in the indoor circuit added valuable points to the team's overall performance.



Idaho State Indoor (2023-24): Competed in three indoor meets in the 400m and 4x400m relay… ended the year with a combined four top-five finishes… named to the All Conference Team (4x400m Relay). 

Idaho State Outdoor (2023): Competed in seven outdoor meets for the Bengals… opened the year with a personal best in the 100m (11.37s) at the Utah-WSU Spring Classic (04/08/23)... invited to other meets including Pacific Coast Invitational, Beach Invitational, and BYU Robison Invitational… finished the year with a pair of top-ten finishes at the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track Meeting as part of the 4x100m relay (9th) and 4x400m relay (3rd) (05/13/23).

Idaho State Indoor (2022-23): Started the year running the 60m (7.32s) earning a personal best at the BYU Cougar Indoor Invitational (01/14/23)... had a pair of top-five finishes at the Bobcat Challenge in the 400m (4th) and 4x400m relay (2nd) 01/21/23)... ended the season at the Big Sky Indoor Track & Field Championships competing in the 4x400m relay where the team placed 9th (02/25/23).

Idaho State Outdoor (2022): Opened the year earning a personal best in the 200m (22.25s) at the UVU Collegiate Invitational (04/01/22)... at the Aggie Invitational his 4x100m relay team placed 1st and he secured a 5th place finish in the 400m (48.99s) while running a personal best (04/09/22)... finished the year at the Big Sky Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships competing in the 400m and 4x400m relay (05/114/22).

Idaho State Indoor (2021-22): Competed in five meets during the indoor season all in the 400m and 4x400m relay… had seven top-ten finishes (400m-four and 4x400m relay-three)... opened the year finishing 2nd in the 400m at the Snake River Open (01/15/22)... ended the season at the Big Sky Indoor Track and Field Championships  finishing 9th as a part of the 4x400m relay (02/26/22).

Oregon City High School: Sophomore year won 4A Title in 400m (49.13s)

Personal: Ricardo, who also goes by Ricky, is the son of Kenia Castillo and Eliel Ascencio. He also has two siblings Alex and Mareli! Ricky is here at Idaho State majoring in Exercise Science. Outside of his sport he likes to golf.
