Michael Trujillo enters his fourth season as assistant coach at Idaho State. Trujillo works primarily with and is responsible for guard play, but he is also in charge of scheduling. Along with Ryan Johnson, he is responsible for recruiting, scouting of opponents, academics and on-court coaching.
Trujillo was previously the women’s head coach at Division-II Texas A&M - Kingsville from 2011-2014. He inherited a team that won only 3 games the year before, and in his third year led his team to the Lone Star conference tournament for the first time in five years.
Before his three-year stint as the head coach at Kingsville, Trujillo was an assistant coach at Texas State University where he helped coach the Bobcats to the 2007-08 Southland Conference regular season championship. The Bobcats also won a first round game in the WNIT for the program’s first ever post-season victory. During the same year, he helped coach the Southland Conference Player of the Year who went on to play professionally overseas and was selected as the 12th female member in the history of the Harlem Globetrotters.
