Kidd joins the ISU coaching staff after working for Welch on a part-time basis. Kidd, formerly known to Bengal fans as Heather Gillmore, was a team captain for ISU during the 2003 season when the Bengals recorded the sixth-best turnaround in the nation, and the best season at Idaho State since 1990.
Kidd also played three years at the University of Oregon, where she tallied 228 kills and 699 total attacks in three seasons. Kidd recorded 130 kills and 258 digs in her single season with the Bengals, helping ISU to 20 wins and a trip to the Big Sky Conference Tournament semifinals.
"I am proud to announce the hiring of Heather as one of our assistant coaches in our Bengal family," said ISU head Coach Welch. "Heather is a quality person who has great insight and background with Idaho State University. Heather is a proven leader. She has repeatedly demonstrated to have great composure and maturity."
Most recently, Kidd has coached at Century High School. She has also spent time coaching club volleyball in Idaho, where she led her team to a top-10 finish in the Utah-Idaho region. Kidd has also acted as a volleyball camp instructor for both Oregon and Idaho State.
Kidd is a native of South Jordan, Utah, and graduated from Bingham High School, where she played four seasons for the BHS volleyball team. Heather is married to Kyle Kidd. The couple have a baby daughter, Ava.
