Idaho State looks to keep post season chances alive

BENGAL OVERVIEW
Idaho State (3-9-1, 0-3-0 BSC) returns home to host Eastern Washington (1-10-0, 0-3-0 BSC) on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. and Montana (4-8-2, 1-1-1 BSC) on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m.  Both matches are played at Davis Field.

Fans can follow Idaho State's home soccer contests through KISU 91.1 FM.  The radio broadcast is web streamed live at www.isubengals.com.  Assistant A.D. for Academic Services Matt Steuart provides the play-by-play action while former ISU soccer defender Lauren Hough provides color commentary against Eastern Washington and current ISU track and field athlete Sam Corbett provides color against Montana.  Live stats can be found on the Bengal athletic web site.  Fans can access information about the ISU soccer program through twitter and Facebook as well.

BENGALS LOOK TO KEEP POST SEASON PLAY ALIVE
Idaho State looks to end its 10-match non-winning streak and to capture its first Big Sky win after posting an 0-3-0 record to tie for seventh place with Eastern Washington which is also 0-3-0 in league play.  The Bengals go head-to-head with the Eagles in an important match-up as Idaho State fights for the chance to keep post season chances alive.  Scoring in the Big Sky is paired up with Portland State and Weber State each with seven points (2-0-1), followed by Sacramento State and Northern Colorado with six points (2-1-0).  Montana and Northern Arizona have four points for fifth place (1-1-1).  The Bengals need to win three of their last four matches to stay in the top half of the standings.

ABOUT IDAHO STATE
Idaho State has scored three goals in its last three games led by junior midfielder Ashley Jones who scored all three of ISU's goals.  The Bengals are still led in scoring by freshman Amanda Ellsworth who has scored five goals this season.  Jones quickly rose to second leading scorer after her big weekend at Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado.  Jones has also notched two assists for eight points.  Allyssa Kenney has also recorded more than one goal notching two deep, high left footed goals for the Bengals this season.  Both Rachel Strawn and Allyson Stainbrook lead Idaho State in assists with four.  In goal for the Bengals is sophomore Carly Hutchings-Maloney who has played in goal for ISU for 1097:47.  Hutchings-Maloney has earned one shut-out this season in ISU's season opener and posts a 2.46 goals against average.

BENGALS OUT-SHOOT OPPONENTS
Idaho State continues to lead the Big Sky in shots with 216 and out-shoot its opponents 216-to-212.  In the last two games the Bengals matched its opponent shots with 14 against Northern Arizona and 19 against Northern Colorado.  ISU has out-shot its opponents in four matches for a 2-1-1 record.  The only match ISU has won when not out-shooting an opponent was Southern Utah.

BENGALS HOT AT DAVIS FIELD
Over the last three seasons the Bengals have posted a 12-6-3 home record. Under Head Coach Allison Gibson the Bengals own a 24-11-8 record at Davis Field.  The all-time home record at Davis Field is 59-27-15.

BENGALS LOOK TO SNAP NON-WINNING STREAK
Idaho State looks to snap a 10-game non-winning streak.  The Bengals longest non-winning streak was 14 games in 2008 including four tied contests.

JONES SETS RECORDS WITH OUTSTANDING WEEKEND
Junior midfielder Ashley Jones scored three goals in two games for the Bengals notching Idaho State's only goals of the weekend and all three of her goals for the season.  Jones recorded two goals against Northern Arizona and a goal against Northern Colorado. The midfielder's 11 career goal is the ninth best career record at Idaho State.  Her scoring ability also gives her 29 points over her career to tie the 10th best career point record at Idaho State with Michelle Okumura.  Both of Jones' goals against Northern Arizona were assisted by teammate Rachel Strawn.  The first Jones goals against NAU was a shot to the left of the keeper from the top of the box.  Her second goal was to the right of the keeper from outside of the box.  Jones' goal against Northern Colorado was a header off a free kick served up by Allyson Stainbrook.

Midfielder Ashley Jones and forward Rachel Strawn  proved to be an outstanding combination as Jones scored twice off of assists from Strawn in ISU's contest at Northern Arizona. 

STRAWN CLIMBS ASSISTS RECORD
Junior Strawn's two assists improved her to four assists for the season and 13 over her career.  Strawn's 13 assist sets the fifth best career assist record at Idaho State.  Annamarie Hoffstetter not only holds the Idaho State but the Big Sky Conference  career assists record with 25.

JONES AND ELLSWORTH ON TARGET
The Bengals played out of their minds at Northern Arizona with 12 of its 14 shots on goal during the match.  Ashley Jones, a junior midfielder, and Amanda Ellsworth, a freshman forward, were both were four for four in shots on goal. 

STRAWN HUNGRY FOR HER SECOND GOAL OF THE SEASON
Rachel Strawn is burning up the field looking for her second goal of the season.  The junior forward is leading the Bengals in shots on goal (16) posting a .533 shot on goal percentage.  Strawn has scored two goals each year, 2009 and 2010, and is hungry for her second goal of the 2011 season.  Four of her five goals have been game winners. 

HUTCHINGS-MALONEY SAVES ARE TOPS
Sophomore goalkeeper Carly Hutchings-Maloney set the individual single-game season-high with 10 saves against Utah Valley then topped herself with ISU's current single-game season-high of 12 saves in Idaho State's Big Sky opener against Weber State.  The 12 saves marks the second time she has tied the third best single-game save record at ISU with her first against Portland State in 2010.  Hutchings-Maloney has recorded 62 saves this season for the 10th best single season record at Idaho State.

STRAWN REACHES TOP-10 RECORD FOR SHOTS ON GAOL
Junior forward Rachel Strawn recorded her 42 shot on goal against Northern Arizona to tie the top-ten career record at Idaho State with Michelle Okumura.
