POCATELLO, Idaho -
The Bengals gave a solid effort on the field in their final push before falling 1-0 to Portland State in double-overtime at Davis Field in the last game of the season.

Idaho State honored its three seniors Alex Hansen, Taylor Powell and Megan Stainbrook in their final game of their careers.  All three seniors started on senior day with forward Powell notching a team-high four shots, with one on goal.  Defender Megan Stainbrook recorded a shot.

Idaho State had 12 shots, with three on goal, during the game while Portland State had 21 shots with nine on goal.  ISU Junior Midfielder Ashley Jones had three shots.

The Vikings finally found the back of the net after 105:28 when Melissa Tammell was able to collect on an opportunity where ISU's keeper hit a short ball that went off a Bengal defender.  Tammell collected the ball, dribbled toward the goal and scored eight yards out. Esty Geiger and Kala Enard were credited with the assits.

Idaho State was tied with four shots each going into halftime.  Even when Portland State out-shot the Bengals 12-to-6 in the second period Idaho State held on.  ISU keeper Carly Hutchings-Maloney, a sophomore, had eight saves.

The Bengals had their opportunities including a long cross from defender Lia Margolis at the 52:33 mark that went off the keeper leaving an open goal forcing a Viking defender to clear the ball out.

Allyson Stainbrook gave ISU a strong opportunity when her shot was bobbled by PSU keeper Melissa Ferguson two yards in front of the goal.  She went to the ground to recover it just as midfielder Allyssa Kenney slid in, but the ball was stopped at the 75:38 mark.

Allyson Stainbrook also was strong defensively covering the goal when Hutchings-Maloney fell during a collison.  She headed the ball out at the 76:19 mark to keep the Vikings from scoring.

Idaho State ended its season 5-11-1 overall and 2-5-0 in league play.  Portland State improved to 8-7-2 for the season and 4-1-2 in conference action to earn 14 points tying Northern Colorado for a share of the Big Sky Conference regular season title.  Northern Colorado hosts the tournament as they beat the Vikings 1-0 earlier in the season.
