Bengals Host Eastern Washington Sunday at Reed Gym

Idaho State is led by Nate Gross in singles victories

POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State men's tennis team (0-7, 0-1 BSC) hosts Eastern Washington (2-2, 1-0 BSC) at Reed Gym on Sunday, February 27 at 10 a.m. The Bengals host their second conference match of the season at Reed Gym.

Idaho State is led in singles wins by sophomore Nate Gross posting a 5-2 record, 3-2 at the No. 4 spot. He is undefeated at the No. 6 and 5 positions with a 1-0 record that earned him the No. 4 position. Freshmen Gilberto Azevedo and Diego Cavalcanti have also captured singles victories this season.

In doubles the Bengals have won three contests all by different teams. Senior Danel Barrenechea is the contributing factor with two doubles victories pairing with Rodrigo Azevedo at the No. 3 position against Montana and with G. Azevedo at the No. 1 spot against Montana State.

Eastern Washington is one of two teams with a undefeated record in the Big Sky overcome by defending Big Sky tournament champion Sacramento State with a 3-0 league record.

The Eagles are on a two game win streak having swept Northern Colorado and defeated Gonzaga 4-3 on the road. Julian Sanchez leads Eastern Washington in singles victories with a 3-1 record. Fernando Mussolini owns the No. 1 spot with a 1-2 record.

In doubles, the Eagles hold a winning 8-4 record (.667) with teams Kyle Koetje and Stefan Simikic and Chris Eriksson and James Russell holding undefeated 3-0 records.
