e Idaho State men's tennis team swept Seattle in its double header contest finishing the day with a 4-1 simultaneous play victory on Friday afternoon at the Darling Tennis Center. The Bengals played four singles contests and one doubles match simultaneously and swept the singles contests for the victory.
Seattle jumped out on the scoreboard first when Jordan Prince and Simon Meske overcame the Pate brothers 6-2, 6-1. Idaho State responded when
Nate Gross defeated Jason Bediones 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot.
Dan Buckingham quickly followed with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Zachary Williams at the No. 4 position.
Senior
Danel Barrenechea defeated Matt Overland 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 2 spot in time to watch
Diego Cavalcanti's third set tiebreaker. The freshman Bengal prevailed 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 11-9 over David Kovas in Cavalcanti's first match at the No. 1 position.
Idaho State improved to 3-11 and Seattle fell to 3-14 for the season. The Bengals next match is at Portland State on April 1 at 7 p.m. at the Mountain Park Racquet Club in Lake Oswego.
