CEDAR CITY, Utah – The Idaho State women's tennis team notched its fourth win of the season with a 5-2 victory over Southern Utah Tuesday afternoon. The four wins on the season is the most for the program since the 2003-04 season.
The Bengals started the match off on the right foot, taking the doubles point behind a solid effort from senior
Rilee Moorhead and freshman
Marian Tangarife. Moorhead and Tangarife took the No. 2 doubles 8-3 while junior
Rachel Ryan and sophomore
Zamira Vasquez won the No. 3 doubles by default.
In singles action,
Laura Porras improved to 6-6 at the No. 2 singles with a win over SUU's Alex Ivanova. Tangarife continued her earlier success in the doubles, decisively taking the No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-1 over Afton Staheli. Vasquez won the No. 5 singles in a 6-3, 7-5 decision against Lisa Pleskan while Ryan won by default at the No. 6 position.
Idaho State women's tennis next faces Montana State Friday, March 30 in Pocatello. It will be the final home match for the ISU women this season.
