POCATELLO, Idaho-
The Idaho State soccer team improved to 4-0 with a convincing 2-0 victory over the University of Idaho in the Governor's Cup played at Boise State. It is the first time Idaho State has started the season 4-0 since the 2004 season. The Bengals struck with their two goals in a two-minute span to earn the win.

"This was a game we were looking forward to for along time," Idaho State coach Allison Gibson said. "We had a lot of motivation for this game."

Rachel Strawn scored her sixth goal of the season at the 15:33 mark off assists from Kiley Godfrey and Lia Margolis. Three minutes later Anna Pingree scored off a volley on a corner kick to give ISU the 2-0 lead.

"The two goals we got back-to-back were huge," Gibson said.

The Bengals had 14 shots to the Vandals 13. Strawn had four shot attempts while Pingree had three.

Maria Dela Cruz and Sheridan Hapsic each played a half in goal. Dela Cruz had four saves while Hapsic came up with two.

"Our whole defensive line was big," Gibson said. "Our back line just did a tremendous job in shutting down their attack."

Idaho State plays Boise State on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Boise.
