CEDAR CITY, Utah –Sheridan Hapsic scored her fourth shutout of the 2013 season and Amanda Ellsworth and Madeline Gochnour each scored goals to lead Idaho State to a 2-0 Big Sky road win over Southern Utah.

Ellsworth got on the scoreboard with a goal in the 30th minute. Kiley Godfrey found Ellsworth in front of the goal, she sent the ball high over SUU goalkeeper Elyssa Hashimoto's hands for her second goal in as many games and her team high fifth of the season.

In the second half Jessica Sanchez made a great steal to gain possession. She then sent the ball across the field to Gochnour on a breakaway. Gochnour sent the ball past the keeper for her third goal of the season.

The Bengals scored multiple goals for the first time since the 3-2 loss to Utah State on Sept. 7.

Head Coach Allison Gibson said that is due to a change in lineups and formations.

"We needed to make some changes to get some more offensive production," Gibson said. "The things that we adjusted made a big difference in our offense. Instead of getting most of our goals on set pieces we got both of our goals by pushing the ball up field."

The Bengals were also without Whitney Peterson who was injured in the third minute of the match.

On the defensive end Hapsic faced fifteen shots and made four saves in the shutout. One of which was one of the best saves Gibson said she has ever seen.

"When that shot was made everyone thought it went in, the girl who shot it was celebrating our whole sideline thought it went in," Gibson said. "Sheridan's whole body and arms were inside the goal but her hands and the ball were outside, it was an amazing save."

The Thunderbirds outshot the Bengals 15-9 but Idaho State was far more efficient. Five of the Bengals nine shots were on goal while Southern Utah had just four shots on goal in fifteen shots.

SUU also had 10 corner kicks to Idaho State's  one.

The win moves Idaho State to 5-6-1 overall and 2-1-1 in Big Sky play. Southern Utah moves to 4-8-0 and 1-2-0 in the conference.
