POCATELLO, Idaho - Amanda Ellsworth tallied a shot on goal in the seventh minute of Idaho State's road soccer match against 23rd ranked Texas Tech Friday night. That would be the only shot the Bengals would attempt the entire match as the Red Raiders outshot ISU 27-1 en route to a 3-0 victory.

The first Red Raider goal came in the 13th minute when sophomore Janine Beckie scored off a long pass from teammate Hayley Haagsma.

The Bengal defense then found a grove behind starting goalkeeper Sheridan Hapsic. She tied her career-high with 10 saves in 71 minutes in goal. She also faced 23 shots on the evening.

With just under three minutes left in the first half the Red Raiders again found the back of the net when Maddy Crabtree received a centering pass from Meagan McCullough and sent it past Hapsic for the 2-0 lead.

"Sheridan played great," Head Coach Allison Gibson said. "The two goals that she allowed were phenomenal. She was in position but there was no way that anyone was going to make the save on those goals."

The Bengal defense again tightened to start the second half but in the 71st minute Maria Dela Cruz replaced Hapsic at goal.

Just over a minute later Alli Murphy beat her defender and then Dela Cruz for the third Red Raider goal of the match.

The loss drops the Bengals to 2-1 on the season and moves Texas Tech to 3-0.

Following the game, Gibson said she was impressed with Texas Tech's skill level.

"That is probably the best college soccer team I have seen as a coach," Gibson said. "There is no question in my mind that they are better than Stanford was last year. If they aren't a NCAA Elite Eight team I will be shocked."

Gibson knew that tonight's match would be a test for her team and she believes the match will help the Bengals prepare for the heart of the schedule.

"We'll learn a lot from tonight's match," Gibson said. "We have big goals for ourselves and we needed to see what to improve on. They exposed our weaknesses now we can take that back and work on those weaknesses before conference starts."

Idaho State returns home to face Utah Valley at 4 p.m. Tuesday, at Davis Field. The Wolverines are 0-3 on the season after three one-goal losses to UTEP, Utah State and Weber State.
