WBB Hangs Tough at No. 24 Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Washington – Two days and 75 miles made a world of difference as the ISU women's basketball team rebounded from a tough loss Sunday afternoon at Washington State to hang tough with No. 24 Gonzaga 88-63 Tuesday night at the McCarthy Center.

The Bengals battled right with the Bulldogs in the first half holding a 36-35 lead with 3:22 left. The Zags led by only one at the break.

"We definitely showed improvement from the Washington State game," Head Coach Seton Sobolewski said. "The difference tonight was that we ran our offense better and made open shots. I thought we started the game with some really good momentum. We shot the ball well and rebounded well in that first half."

Idaho State was led by Rebecca Schrimpsher's 11 points, four rebounds and four assists while Grace Kenyon added 11 points. The Bengals shot 45.5% from the field as a team.

Gonzaga shot 48 free throws compared to just 17 for Idaho State.

ISU will return home Monday November 24 for a home game against Northwest Nazarene University.  The matchup with Crusaders will have a special 2 p.m. start time on the ICCU Court inside Reed Gym.  Fans can purchase tickets for just $3 by printing off or showing the voucher from the ISU Athletics Facebook Page

"What's important to us right now is improving every game," Sobolewski said. "We need to keep taking steps towards being a competitive Big Sky team."
