Idaho State leads the overall series 5-0. This is the first meeting between the two schools since the 2007-08 season when ISU won 71-66 in Pocatello. Prior to that season the other four meetings were held during the 1985-86, 1934-35 and twice during the 1936-37 seasons.
Northwest Nazarene is 2-7 and played Boise State in an exhibition game on Dec. 11. The Crusaders are a Division II school that plays in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Northwest Nazarene is scoring 68.9 points a game but giving up 76.7. They shoot .474 percent and allow opponents to shoot .478 percent from the field. Erik Kinney leads the team in scoring and rebounds at 13.7 points and 7.4 boards. Aubrey Ball, Mike Wright and Kevin Rima all score 11 points a game.
Idaho State vs. Non Division I SchoolsThe last time Idaho State lost to a non Division I team was an 86-83 overtime loss in Pocatello to BYU-Hawaii on Dec. 18, 1991. During the Joe O'Brien era, Idaho State played nine non Division 1 games and won by an average score of 75-65. Of the nine games, five were won by single digits. During the Doug Oliver era, ISU played 15 non Division I games in eight years and the Bengals won by an average score of 88.2-62.6. All but three games were won by 10 points or more. In the
Bill Evans era, ISU won all four game non-Division I game by an average score of 83-57.
Hansen Putting up the PointsChris Hansen is on pace to become the 20th Bengal in program history to reach the 1,000 point mark for a career. In two plus seasons he has scored 948 points. He scored 342 as a sophomore and 481 as a junior last season. He has scored 125 points through the first seven games.
Cleaning the GlassJeffrey Solarin proved to be one the best rebounders in the Big Sky Conference last year as he averaged 8.5 rebounds a game. In the first seven games of the 2014-15 season he is averaging 8.0 boards a game. He had a season-high 14 rebounds at Denver. Solarin has eight rebounds or more in 18 of the 36 games he has appeared in as a Bengal.
Bradley Provides Spark off the Bench
In the last three games
Marcus Bradley has come off the bench for the Bengals to play 17.3 minutes a game and score 12 points a game. He is the second-leading scorer for ISU during this stretch. He is shooting 60 percent from the field (15-25) and he has four blocks, 2.3 rebounds a game and he has made all three free throw attempts. He scored a season-high 16 points, all coming in the second-half.
