WBB Continues Home Stand vs Eastern Washington Saturday

THIS WEEK IN IDAHO STATE BASKETBALL

Idaho State continues Big Sky Conference play when they host Eastern Washington Saturday at 2 p.m. on the Idaho Central Credit Union Court inside Reed Gym.

Mark Liptak will call the games live on 91.1 FM  KISU.

ABOUT EASTERN WASHINGTON
The Eagles (8-4, 1-0) finished their non-conference schedule with their best record in a decade including a victory over the University of Florida in the Gator Holiday Classic.  

EWU defeated Weber State on Thursday in their first Big Sky Game

Eastern leads the overall series 36-35 however ISU has won 19 of the last 24 games and nine of the last ten games played in Pocatello. Coach Sobolewski is 11-4 vs. the Eagles.

"They have a really experienced starting lineup. They are very skilled and can really shoot the ball.  They have a great go-to player in Lexi Nelson. They are playing hard and their confident so it is going to be a really tough game."

LAST GAME RECAP FOR IDAHO STATE
The Bengals extended their winning streak to four straight games with a 71-50 victory over the University of Idaho to begin Big Sky play.  The Bengals used runs of 11-0 and 13-2 to pull away from the Vandals.  

Four players scored in double figures led by Apiphany Woods with 19 points and a career-high seven rebounds.

The Bengals held the Vandals to just 27.3% (18-66) from the field in the game and only 21.9% (7-32) in the second half. ISU also limited Stacey Barr, the highest scoring player in the conference, to just five points on 2-15 shooting and seven turnovers.

MAGIC NUMBER IS 70
ISU is undefeated 4-0 when they score at least 70 points in a game this season.  They are 25-1 in the last four seasons when they reach that mark.

BLOCK PARTY
Anna Lee Policicchio has blocked a shot in nine consecutive games.  She is 37th in the nation with 2.25 blocks per game. She has had multiple blocks in six of the last eight games including a  career-high five against the University of Houston and Utah Valley.

    
DOUBLE-FIGURES FOR WOODS
Apiphany Woods has scored in double-figures in eight of the last ten games including a career-high 23 points against Drake.

HIT THE BOARDS
The Bengals are 6-1 this season when they have more rebounds then their the opponent but have yet to win a game when the other team has more rebounds

DAY VS NIGHT
Idaho State is 4-1 in games played during the day but are 2-5 in games played at night.

11-STRAIGHT
Idaho State has qualified for the post-season tournament in 11 consecutive seasons. The streak is currently the second-longest in the Big Sky, behind only Montana. The Lady Griz have played in every Big Sky Tournament.

NEW FACES FOR BENGALS
The ISU roster includes only two seniors (Rebecca Shrimshper and Jasmine Lemon). Four of the top five scorers from 2013-14 graduated. There are seven new players on this year's roster. (Woodworth, Newton, Woods, Hochstein, Morch and Somers)

SOBOLEWSKI BECOMES THE WINNINGEST COACH IN ISU HISTORY
The win over Northern Arizona on February 1st, 2014 was Head Coach Seton Sobolewski's 94th career victory. The win pushed Sobolewski past Jon Newlee as the winningest coach in ISU history.

Sobolewski has led Idaho State to the Big Sky tournament each year of his tenure, including 2012 when the Bengals won the conference championship to advance to the NCAA tournament.
