WBB: Bengals Travel South to take on Utes

THIS WEEK IN IDAHO STATE BASKETBALL
Idaho State travels to Salt Lake City to face the University of Utah Wednesday December 10 at 7 p.m. The Bengals return to Pocatello to battle Utah Valley University Saturday December 13 at 2 p.m. on the ICCU Court inside Reed Gym.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY OF UTAH
The Utes play in the Pac-12 Conference and are 3-4 on the season.  The Utes enter the game on a two-game winning streak after defeating Utah State and UNLV in their previous games.  

Taryn Wicijowski leads the team in scoring at 16.1 PPG.

LAST MATCHUP VS UTAH
The Utes defeated the Bengals 56-31 on December 6, 2011 in Salt Lake City.  Utah has won 28 of the 29 meetings between the two schools.  

ISU's only victory in the series came in 2010 when they defeated the Utes 71-58 in overtime. Ashleigh Vella scored 31 points and Chelsea Pickering added 17 to help lead the Bengals to the upset.

ABOUT UTAH VALLEY UNIVERSITY
The Wolverines play in the WAC. They are 4-5 on the season and will take on the Air Force Academy on Thursday before traveling to play Idaho State on Saturday.  

UVU and ISU have both played Boise State this season.  The Wolverines defeated the Broncos 68-60 while the Bengals fell 86-62 in their game.

Utah Valley is led in scoring by Rhaiah Spooner-Knight at 14.3 PPG.

LAST GAME RECAP FOR IDAHO STATE
The Bengals fell 80-66 to Drake University.  Apiphany Woods scored a career-high 23 points on 9-15 FG.  The Bulldogs shot 50.8% from the field and 47.4% from 3PT.

MAGIC NUMBER IS 70
ISU is undefeated 2-0 when they score at least 70 points in a game this season.  They are 23-1 in the last four seasons when they reach that mark.

BLOCK PARTY
Anna Lee Policicchio is 81st in the nation with 1.71 blocks per game including a career-high five against the University of Houston

DOUBLE-FIGURES FOR WOODS
Apiphany Woods has scored in double-figures in four of the last five games including a career-high 23 points against Drake. She is shooting 49.1% over that stretch. Her 14 assists during the five-games is second on the team.

FG DIFFERENTIAL
In the two victories this season Idaho State is shooting 48.4% while holding their opponents to 38.8%.  In the five losses the Bengals are shooting 36.3% and allowing 48.3%.
