Game 8 Preview: Idaho State at Sacramento State

POCATELLO, Idaho-  Idaho State returns to the road for a Big Sky Conference game at Sacramento State on Saturday, October 24. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. (MDT) and fans can listen to Jerry Miller and Mark Liptak live on 101.1 FM KEIR. Live stats, video and audio will be available online at isubengals.com.

About Sacramento State
Sacramento State is 1-6 and 0-4 in Big Sky Conference play. The Hornet offense is averaging 332.3 yards a game (117.9 rushing and 214.4 passing) and scoring 15.4 points a game. The defense is giving up 441.3 yards.  Darnell Sankey leads Sac State in tackles with 94 and he leads the Big Sky Conference in tackles per game at 13.4. Jordan Robinson leads the offense with 114 carries for 587 yards and three touchdowns. Shane Harrison is the top receiver with 31 catches for 369 yards.

Series vs. Sacramento State
Sacramento State leads the series 11-7. The Bengals beat the Hornets last year 44-24 in Pocatello but the last time ISU has won in Sacramento was Oct. 22, 2005. The Bengals won that game 27-17. Sacramento State is 7-1 vs. ISU in Sacramento.

 - Game captains were Kurt Karstetter, Tyler Graves, Cody Sorensen, Wesley Wingrove
- Xavier Finney's rushing touchdown in the second quarter gives him 25 for his career. He is in third place all-time. Merril Hoge is in second with 31 and Isaac Mitchell holds the record with 34.
- Madison Mangum's two touchdowns moves him into a tie for sixth place for most receiving touchdowns with 18. Rodrick Rumble (2009-12) and Tom Hoffmann (1970-74) finished their careers with 18.
- Madison Mangum's 59-yard reception in the first quarter was the 12th longest offensive play of the Mike Kramer era and a career-long reception.
- Saturday was the first time ISU has scored on its first possession of the game since playing Portland State.
- Tate Razor record his first career interception and Tanner Gueller threw his second career touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to KW Williams.
- The attendance of 8,942 was the sixth largest crowd at Holt Arena since 2005.
- Hayden Stout had a career-high 15 tackles and Erik Collins had a career-high nine tackles.
- Joe Martin had a career-high eight tackles and Nikko Hayes had a career-high seven tackles.

Madison Mangum Records Watch
- Madison Mangum is 41 receiving yards from breaking into the  career Top 10 list. Mangum has 1,944 receiving yards and Tom Hoffman is in 10th place with 1,984 career receiving yards.
- Madison Mangum is 56 receiving yards away from becoming only the 10th player in ISU history to pass the 2,000 yard mark.
- Mangum is eight receptions away from cracking the Top 10 for career receptions. He has 136 and Josh Hill is currently in 10th place with 143.

Bengal Bites
-  Idaho State is third in the nation in fewest penalty yards per game. They are only penalized for 34.29 yards a game.
- Idaho State is sixth in the nation and first in the conference in first downs with 158.
- Madison Mangum is fourth in the country in receiving touchdowns with eight and eighth in receiving yards with 634.
- Idaho state is 1-13 at home vs. ranked teams since beating No. 5 Eastern Washington 34-30 in Holt on Sept. 24, 2005.
- The highest ranked team ISU has beaten is No. 5 Montana, 28-23 in 1994, No. 5 Montana in 2003 (43-40 in 2 OT) and No. 5 Eastern Washington 34-30 in 2005.
Josh Cook has caught a pass in 26 straight games.
- Madison Mangum has caught a pass in 19  straight games. His three receptions vs. Portland State was his fewest since the 2013 season.
- CJ Hatchett has caught 12 passes in his career. Four of the 12 have been for touchdowns. He also caught a two-point conversion at UNLV.
- Mario Jenkins and Taison Manu are unavailable for the 2015 season.
- Xavier Finney has 13 100-yard rushing games, tied for the most out of any active Big Sky player.
