POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team returns to the road for a contest at No. 3 Eastern Washington on Saturday, Nov. 12. Kickoff is at 4:35 p.m. mountain time.

Series vs. Eastern Washington
Eastern Washington leads the series 28-9. Eastern has won nine straight, with the Bengals last win being the 34-30 victory in Pocatello during the 2005 season. The Eagles were ranked No. 5 at the time. Idaho State's last win in Cheney was 21-14 in 2002.
About Eastern Washington
Eastern Washington is one of two unbeaten teams in the Big Sky Conference. The Eagles are 6-0 in league and 8-1 overall while averaging 44.78 points a game and 550.6 yards of offense. Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp leads the offensive attack with 1,160 yards receiving on 78 receptions and 12 touchdowns. Receiver Shaq Hill has 13 receiving touchdowns and 787 receiving yards. Quarterback Gage Gubrud has completed 260 passes on 373 attempts for 3,555 yards, 35 touchdowns and only nine interceptions. Gubrud is also the teams leading rusher with 427 rushing yards on 91 carries and four touchdowns. Zach Bruce leads the defense with 80 tackles and three interceptions.
Sorensen's On the Radio
It will be a father-son moment on Saturday for Paul and
Cody Sorensen. Cody, who graduated from Idaho State in 2015, will serve as the color analyst with
Jerry Miller for the radio broadcast on 102.5. Paul is the analyst for the Eastern Washington football radio broadcast.
Louie McGee the Return Specialist
Tucker Louie-McGee returned seven kickoffs for 161 yards with a long return of 35 yards at Montana on Nov. 5. That was the most return yards on a kickoff by a Bengal since Tavoy Moore returned seven kickoffs for 195 yards and one touchdown on Oct. 9, 2010 at Montana. In that game Moore also returned two punts for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Strength in Linebackers
The linebacking group of
Hayden Stout,
Mario Jenkins,
Joe Martin are once again the leaders of the Bengal defense. All three are ISU's leading tacklers this season with Jenkins leading the way with 87, Martin 76 and Stout 65. Stout led the defense with 113 tackles last year and with the return of Jenkins, who had 120 tackles as a redshirt freshman in 2014, the linebacking core continues to lead the Bengal defense.
Youth Movement
This year 44 freshmen and sophomores have seen the field for ISU in some capacity over the course of the season. Of the 44 players, 23 were either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Meanwhile only 28 juniors or seniors have seen the field this year. Of the 28 juniors and seniors, four were playing Division I football for the first time at their current position (
Pat Carter at wide receiver, Lorenzo Terry,
Tom Jewell and
Clark Jeppesen (did not see any action at Utah State). Another eight have missed games or have been lost for the season due to injury.

Tanner Gueller ranks 11th in the nation in completions per game at 22.78. That mark ranks third in the league.

Mario Jenkins is 24th in the nation in tackles per game at 9.7. That mark ranks No. 1 in the Big Sky.

Sean Cheney ranks 8h in the nation in punting and third in the Big Sky at 43.2 yards a kick.

KW Williams 10 receiving touchdowns ranks eighth in the nation and third in the Big Sky.

KW Williams six receptions per game ranks 26th in the nation and fourth in the Big Sky.
