Results PDFST. GEORGE, Utah – The Idaho State men's tennis team swept the Southern Utah Thunderbirds 7-0 for the second time in the last five days. The Bengals cruised to the 7-0 win without losing a single set in singles or doubles play.
Due to inclement weather, the match was moved to an indoor facility in St. George, Utah, but the change was not to affect the Bengals. ISU won the doubles point after claiming wins at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions.
In singles play, junior
Josh Goodwin started the Bengals off right with a 6-0, 6-0 rout of Joshua Coen at the No. 5 singles position. Junior
Sebastian Edin followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Dario Rios at the No. 1 singles position while junior
Bjorn Scheepbouwer handled SUU at the No. 4 singles position with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Branden Olcott. Freshman
Francis Filipovich represented the Bengals at the No. 3 singles position for the first time this season and earned a victory over Ryan Andrus 6-2, 6-0, while juniors
Haseeb Khan and
William Edin rounded out the day for the Bengals with 6-0, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-2 victories respectively.
The Bengals continue their road trip as they travel to Phoenix, Ariz. to face Arizona Christian on March 24 at 12 p.m.
