Final Results PDFGRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Idaho State women's tennis team defeated North Dakota 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the Choice Health and Fitness facility in Grand Forks, N.D., snapping a five-match losing streak for the Bengals. Four of ISU's last six matches have been decided by one point.
Idaho State (5-12, 3-6 BSC) fell behind early, losing the doubles point after dropping two-of-three doubles matches to North Dakota (3-18, 0-11 BSC). However, the Bengals more than made up for the deficit in singles play.
The Bengals came out strong in singles play, winning two of the first three matches as senior
Wiebke Boeckmann bested UND's Faith Lee 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 3 singles position while senior
Svenja Tegtmeier followed with a 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over Mimi Yunker. UND claimed the next two wins at the No. 4 and No. 1 positions, but the Bengals finished with two wins as senior
Taylor Cole defeated Mary Wessman 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 5 singles position and
Laura Gutierrez bested Aliza Deming in three sets, 7-6, 6-7, 6-3.
The Bengals return home for their final two matches next weekend as they host Montana April 22 at 12 p.m. followed by Sacramento State April 23rd at 9 a.m. Both matches are set to be played at Capell Park in Chubbuck, Idaho.
