POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State soccer team hosts UC Irvine Thursday, Sept. 15 at 4 p.m. and Utah Valley Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m. with both games at Davis Field. The Bengals are looking to close out their five-game home stand with two wins.
ABOUT UC IRVINE
This is the second time in program history the Bengals have faced UC Irvine. Idaho State lost at UC Irvine Aug. 24, 2015 3-1.
The Anteaters are 7-1 so far this season with big wins over Pittsburgh (3-0), Oregon (3-2) and Boise State (1-0, OT). As a team, UC Irvine is averaging 14.9 shots per game including 7.1 on goal for a .479 shot on goal percentage. The Anteaters have netted 19 goals on the season for a 2.38 per game average which ties for 37th nationally. UC Irvine's Kiana Palacios ranks sixth nationally with seven total goals.
The Anteaters are led by Head Coach Scott Juniper who is in his 10th season.
ABOUT UTAH VALLEY
ISU carries a 4-4-2 overall record against UVU. The Bengals fell 5-1 at Utah Valley last season on Sept. 10, 2015.
The Wolverines are 4-3 on the season with big wins over Oklahoma (1-0) and UNLV (2-1). UVU averages 1.43 goals per game off 12.4 shots per game for a .115 shot percentage. Utah Valley has registered an assist on eight of its 10 goals this season. Seven different players have registered a goal. Alexis Peterson leads the pack with three.
UVU is led by Head Coach Brent Anderson who is in his 11th season.
