Game 8 Preview: Idaho State vs. Portland State

POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team returns home to host Portland State on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 2:35 p.m. Jerry Miller and Mark Liptak will call the action at 102.5 KMGI. Live video, stats and audio are available through isubengals.com and Pluto TV.

Home Game Ticket Prices
For tickets, fans can call 208-282-FANS. Tickets can be ordered online at isubengals.com. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets prior to game day. Tickets prior to game day are $18 for adults and $10 for kids. On game day prices are $25 for adults and $17 for kids.  

Series vs. Portland State
Portland State leads the series 24-17-1. The Vikings have won six of the last seven meetings. ISU's only win during that stretch was 31-13 in Portland on Nov. 1, 2014.  ISU lost 45-20 last year in Portland and 34-14 in Pocatello on Sept. 12, 2015. The Vikings have won three straight in Pocatello with the Bengals last win being 41-34 on Nov. 14, 2009.

Scouting Portland State
Portland State is 0-6 overall and 0-3 in Big Sky play. The Vikings lost 42-20 to No. 24 NAU last week. Portland State is averaging 21.2 points a game, 220.8 rushing yards and 198.5 passing yards a game. The Vikings average 419.3 yards of total offense a game. The Portland State defense is giving up 34.8 points a game, 200.5 rushing yards, 231.8 passing yards and 432.3 yards of total offense.

Za'Quan Summers leads the Portland State rushing attack with 386 yards on 72 carries and two touchdowns. Darnell Adams is the top receiver with 27 receptions for 337 yards and three touchdowns. Josh Kraght has thrown for 793 yards and three touchdowns and Jalani Eason has played in three games and thrown for five touchdowns. Artuz Manning leads the defense with 45 tackles and Kasun Jackett has 44.

Hall of Fame Weekend
This weekend ISU added to its Hall of Fame class with the induction of six Bengals. These individuals were honored prior to the start of the game in a ceremony.

- Today's special teams captain was Colton Belnap.
- Dakota Wilson earned his first career start at center.
- Koby Lowe had a career-high eight tackles.

Freshman and Sophomores Make Immediate Impact
In the season opener vs. Western Oregon the freshman and sophomores accounted for 399 of the teams 431 yards of total offense. Through seven games the youngsters have combined for 490 rushing yards and 1,512 receiving yards, good for 2,002 total yards of the teams 3,085.

Big Play Bengals
The Idaho State offense has shown a knack for making the big plays through six games. Already this year the Bengal offense has 67 plays of 10-19 yards; 26 plays of 20-29 yards, 8 plays of 30-39 yards; four plays of 40-49 yards and six plays of 50 yards or more.

- James Madison's 255 rushing yards at Northern Colorado is currently the seventh most rushing yards in an FCS game this year.
- Mitch Gueller is tied for fourth in FCS in receiving touchdowns scored in a game with 3 at Northern Colorado. The most by an  FCS player this year is 4. Mitch is one of 18 players with three touchdown receptions in a game.
- Joe Martin's 20 tackles at Utah State is the second most by an FCS player this year. Brett Taylor of Western Illinois has 28. Mario Jenkins 18 tackles vs. Cal Poly is the seventh most by an FCS player and his 17 tackles at Nevada is tied for 11th most by an FCS player.
- Idaho State's kickoff return defense is ranked 14th in the country, allowing only 17.08 yards a return.
- Idaho State is ranked seventh in the nation in first downs with 156.
- ISU is 24th in the NCAA in total offense at 440.7 yards a game and 34th in scoring offense at 30.3 points a game.

- James Madison ranks 41st in the country in all purpose yards at 112.50.
