POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team opens spring football practice April 6. The Bengals will hold 15 practices between April 6 and April 29. Practices are open.

Also of note, Pat McCann has been hired to coach the wide receivers and
Rob Phenicie has left Idaho State for a position at another university. McCann comes to Idaho State after four seasons at UC Davis as the receivers coach. Prior to UC Davis he was an assistant for four years at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass.
While at UC Davis, McCann mentored a trio of All-Big Sky honorable mention wide receivers through his first three seasons. In 2013, he oversaw the play of Tom Hemmingsen who returned from injury in 2012 to catch 60 passes for 640 yards, Ramon Vargas had 41 catches for 665 yards and eight touchdowns in 2014, and last season he coached Chris Martin to league honors after he caught 46 passes for 658 yards and 5 TDs.
McCann played at Western Washington, a former Div. II rival for UC Davis. He was an All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference first-team pick following his senior season in 2008 while also earning All-Super Region 4 third-team accolades. While at College of the Canyons in Southern California, McCann was part of the Cougars' junior college national championship team in 2004.
The Olympia, Wash., native earned his undergraduate degree in exercise and sport science from Western Washington in 2009.
