POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team picked up its second-straight conference win with a 4-3 victory over visiting Northern Colorado Saturday morning.
"It was another nail biter today," Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney said. "We lost the doubles point in a really close match but rallied in singles play to take the match. We love playing at home, and the girls got fired up and came back from a 2-3 deficit."
Northern Colorado (6-9, 3-5 BSC) swept the Bengals in doubles play with a 7-6 (8-0) win at No. 2 doubles and a 6-4 win at No. 3 to take the doubles point.
Idaho State (7-9, 5-3 BSC) rallied in singles play, rattling off two-straight singles victories as
Huibre-Mare Botes bested Beth Coton 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and
Louise-Mare Botes followed it up with a 6-3, 6-2 win over UNC's Courtney Schulte at No. 3 singles. Northern Colorado countered with two straight singles wins at No. 4 and No. 1 to take a 3-2 lead in the match.
Idaho State closed out the match with two straight wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles as
Megan Poe battled Ella Mora for a 7-6 (3-0), 6-2 win at No. 5 while
Angela Walker sealed the win with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Milica Krnjaja at No. 6 singles.
Idaho State is back in action at home against Idaho on April 14 at 12 p.m. at the tennis courts at Reed Gym.
