POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State softball team dropped a double header at Montana on Saturday, losing 1-0 and 6-3.
"We competed," Idaho State coach
Candi Letts said. "We left too many people in scoring position on. Another game with a ball not bouncing our way."
In the 1-0 loss,
Ashlyn Ames held Montana to one hit through four innings and allowed four for the game. Montana scored its run in the fifth inning. ISU was also held to four hits.
Sarah Hayes,
Kacie Burnett,
Alex Portesi and
Haley Harrison had the hits.
In the game 2 loss,
Mariah Mulcahy took the loss in the circle, pitching 2.1 innings, allowing four runs and giving up four hits and three walks.
Harley Wells finished the game, tossing 3.2 innings and allowing two runs on seven hits.
Montana led 1-0 after the first inning. ISU then scored its three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead.
Makenzie VanSickle started the inning with a single to left field and then after a sacrifice bunt by Hayes Burnett tripled to left-center for the first run.
Emma Bordenkecher then hit a two-run homer over the fence in left-center.
Montana responded with three runs in the bottom of the third and then added two in the sixth.
Idaho State had six hits and committed three errors while Montana had 11 hits and one error.
The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
