Week 3 Preview: Idaho State at Nevada

POCATELLO, Idaho-   The Idaho State football team plays its second straight Mountain West Conference team on Saturday, September 16 at the University of Nevada. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. mountain. Jerry Miller and Mark Liptak will call the action live on 102.5 KMGI. The game will be televised on AT&T Sports Net. To follow the game on line with live audio and stats log onto isubengals.com.

About Nevada
Nevada is 0-2 after losing 31-20 at Northwestern and 37-24 at home to Toledo.  The Wolf Pack are scoring 22 points a game and average 125.5 rushing yards, 238 passing yards and 363.5 yards of total offense per game. Jaxson Kincaide leads the rushing attack with 27 carries for 149 yards. Quarterback Ty Gangi has completed 35 passes on 74 attempts for 476 yards and four touchdowns. McLane Mannix has caught eight passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns and Dameon Baber and Austin Paulhus leads the defense with 21 tackles.

Series vs. Nevada
Nevada leads the series 18-11. The two teams met yearly from 1971-91 when both teams were in the Big Sky Conference. The Wolf Pack have won the last 11 meetings. The Bengals last win was 23-7 in Pocatello on Sept. 26. 1981. This is the first meeting since a 1991 contest in Reno.

Bengals Against FBS Teams
Idaho State is 0-27 against FBS schools since beating Utah State 27-24 at USU in 2000. Since 2008, the FBS opponents Idaho State has faced are; Air Force, Nebraska, BYU, Oregon State,  Washington State, Utah State, Georgia, UNLV, Colorado, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Boise State, Washington, Utah and Idaho. ISU plays at Nevada next week.

Notes vs. Utah State
- Since 2008 Ty Flanagan is only the fourth Bengal running back to rush for over 100 yards against an FBS team. Flanagan rushed 106 yards on 25 carries with on touchdown at Utah State. The other three running backs to rush for over 100 yards against an FBS team in the last 10 years are Jakori Ford: 8 carries for 122 yards and one touchdown at Oregon State in 2016; Xavier Finney 23 carries for 133 yards and one touchdown at Utah in 2014 and Daniel McSurdy had 14 carries for 114 yards at BYU in 2013.
- Tucker Louie-McGee was last week's special team's captain with Joe Martin, Hagen Graves and Mario Jenkins.
- Tucker Louie-McGee had his first career interception with 13:25 left in the second quarter.
- Ty Flanagan had a career night for the second straight week with 25 carries for 106 yards and one touchdown.
- Nate Page had his first career catches as a Bengal. He had two catches for 19 yards.  
- Joe Martin had a career-high 20 tackles.  
- Nikko Hayes had a career-high 10 tackles.  
- Adkin Aguirre career-high 11 tackles.
- 13 points against an FBS team is the most Idaho State has scored since 2014 when scoring 14 against Utah and 20 against Utah State.

Did you Know
The last time a Bengal running back had back-to-back 100 yard rushing games came in the 2015 season when Xavier Finney had 105 vs. Montana and 145 vs. Montana State. In the first two weeks of the season Ty Flanagan had 100 yards rushing  vs. Western Oregon and 106 vs. Utah State. In 2014, Finney had six straight games of rushing for 100 yards or more.
