POCATELLO, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis teams defended their home courts this weekend, Sept. 28-30, with strong victories in the doubles and singles categories.
"Overall it was a really great tournament for us," said Head Coach Gretchen Maloney. "The girls really worked on their weaknesses and made great strides in areas that they needed to work on."
The doubles final came down to two teams from ISU. Huibre-Mare Botes and Louise-Mare Botes faced off against Hristina Cvetkovic and Megan Poe. The Botes sisters were able to defeat the other duo with a 6-4 final score.
In singles, it was another all ISU final with juniors Angela Walker and Megan Poe competing. The match was a thrilling back-and-fourth affair with Walker emerging victorious (7-6, 1-6, 6-1).

"Our intensity and fight were really good," said Maloney. "The girls battled back when we were down several times and came back to win."
ISU finished the tournament with an impressive 12 singles wins and four doubles wins.
The Bengal women return to action Oct. 10-14 in Las Vegas at the ITA regional Tournament.
