Box Score BOISE, Idaho – The Idaho State women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Boise State in the season opener Saturday afternoon. The Bengals won the doubles point to open play before falling 6-0 in singles play.
"It was great getting the season started against a tough BSU team," said Head Coach
Gretchen Maloney. "Our doubles play was strong, and the girls played clean but aggressive. We battled in singles but needed a bit more depth and consistency."

Madison Fenske evened the series with a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles.
Loise-Mare Botes paired with newcomer
Alexandra Arkhipov at No. 2 doubles and the duo emerged with a tight 7-6 (7-3) victory to give ISU the doubles point.
Angela Walker played the closest singles match of the day against BSU's Vanessa Timm. She lost the first set 6-4 before knotting things up with a 7-6 (7-4) win in the second. The competitors played a tiebreak in lieu of a third set with Timm narrowly edging Walker 12-10.
Hristina Cvetkovic was the only other Bengal to take a set in singles play. She won the first set before falling 1-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Several other Idaho State players competed well including Arkhipov, who lost a close match 6-4, 6-3 in her singles debut.
"The girls all competed well and we know what to work on to get better," Maloney said.
