POCATELLO, Idaho- The Idaho State football team plays its final two games of the 2019 season in the state of Utah. The Bengals take a week off from Big Sky Conference play this week to play a 1 p.m. contest at BYU in Lavell Edwards Stadium. The game will be televised on BYU TV and ESPN +.

BYU enters Saturday's game with a 5-4 record and a 3-2 record at Lavell Edwards Stadium. BYU averages 419 yards of total offense, 281.8 coming through the air and 137.2 on the ground. The BYU defense gives up 421 yards a game, 223.7 through the air and 197.3 on the ground.
Sione Finau leads the rushing attack with 43 carries for 257 yards and one touchdown. Lopini Katoa has carried the ball 57 times for 251 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Bushman has 32 receptions for 484 yards and four touchdowns. Micah Simon has 32 receptions for 418 yards and two touchdowns. Aleva Hifo has 32 receptions for 406 yards and three touchdowns. Kavika Fonua leads the defense with 65 tackles and two interceptions. Austin Lee has 48 tackles.
Bengal Bites vs. BYU
- By the end of the season Idaho State will have played every football program in the state of Utah except Dixie State and Utah State.
- This is the third time since 2011 that BYU and Idaho State have played in Provo.

Rob Phenicie is one of only two Idaho State coaches since 1980 to have a winning record at home in the first three years as head coach.

Idaho State vs. FBS
The Idaho State football team snapped a 27-game losing streak to FBS schools with its
30-28 victory at Nevada on Sept. 16, 2017. Prior to that the last time Idaho State beat an
FBS school was 27-24 at Utah State in 2000. Since 2008, Idaho State has faced some the
top schools in the country in Air Force, Nebraska, BYU, Oregon State, Washington State,
Utah State, Georgia, UNLV, Colorado, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Boise State, Washington,
Utah, Idaho, Cal, Nevada and Liberty. This year Idaho State plays at BYU on Nov. 16.
Phenicie Brings Improvement to Bengal Football
Rob Phenicie's first three years as head coach have brought great improvement to the Bengal football program. He currently has 13 wins. Since Jim Koetter tallied 18 wins in his first three years as head coach (1983-85) only Larry Lewis (1999-01) has had more than Phenicie. He had 14 wins after his first three seasons.
